Academic Faculty Pace University-Lenox Hill Hospital PA Program

Located in the heart of lower Manhattan, the Pace University–Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant (PA) Program seeks a highly motivated, innovative individual to join the current dynamic team of 11 full time faculty members.  The position is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment with primary responsibilities for teaching and evaluation in the didactic year and/or clinical clerkships including site visits and the development of new clinical sites. Clinical assistant/associate professor rank will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate.  The PA program has strong administrative support, excellent benefits, and opportunities for professional growth and development.  One day per week is given for continued clinical practice. The position reports directly to the Program Director with operational guidance from the Director of Didactic and/or Director of Clinical Education. 


Minimum Qualifications Include:

  • Graduation from an accredited PA program and current NCCPA certification
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (doctoral degree preferred)
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State
  • Three years of clinical experience as a practicing PA
  • Teaching experience in PA education strongly preferred (cumulative time spent as adjunct faculty, parttime teaching faculty, and/or lecturing/precepting for a PA program will be considered) 
  • Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, preceptors, clinical site staff, and organizational administrators



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Active involvement in developing and carrying out the mission and vision of the department, college and university
  • Assist in maintenance of ARC-PA accreditation and NYS program requirements
  • Participate in the development and improvement of  curriculum, coordination, and implementation
  • Teaching and coordination of student learning activities during the didactic and clinical phase of the program
  • Involvement in student recruitment and admission interview processes
  • Maintenance of student advisory group, monitor academic progress and mentor professionalism
  • Ongoing assessment of course content, student  evaluation measures and program outcomes
  • Engagement in scholarly activity and service to the program, college, university and community
  • Participation in national, state, and/or leadership activities relevant to physician assistant education and practice
