Administrative Nursing Supervisor
New Orleans, LA

The Administrative Nursing Supervisor executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. The Administrative Nursing Supervisor demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients. The Administrative Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level.  Duties include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Directs and implements practice according to established policies, standards of care, and standards of practice.
  • Demonstrates leadership in providing and improving the delivery of nursing care.
  • Manages nursing care delivery and staff development.
  • Implements and enforces Medical Center policies and procedures.
  • Directs, guides, and leads the Medical Center in the absence of the Medical Center Director and the Associate Director of Patient Care Services.
  • Demonstrates ability to function effectives in NOD role which requires application of complex problem solving skills for problems and issues that affect the operation of the Medical Center on their tour of duty and use team approaches to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Displays leadership in identifying and evaluating issues that impact patient care, organizational processes, or systems to improve overall outcomes by coordinating emergency management, staffing coordinator, which includes operation of Care Ware (computerized staffing package), patient flow, and supervision of staff.
  • Serves as consultant for clinical issues, such as but not limited to, emergency management and patient flow.
  • Assumes leadership role and fosters accountability in others for professional practice and improvement of patient care.
  • Uses principles of risk management to identify systems issues which impact patient care and reports incidences ensuring that initiating incident reports and appropriate paperwork are initiated which include Sentinel events.
  • Assists staff in following guidelines for planned change and in using quality improvement data when proposing change or improvement in nursing care.
  • Serves as a resource and mentor to other staff in meeting patient care requirements and recommending appropriate follow-up to patient care and administrative issues.
  • Rounds on clinical areas to identify needs and quality of patient care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist/develop/implement nursing programs in all services.


This position is NON-BARGAINING.


Work Schedule: Nights, Evenings Weekends, and Holidays with rotating 8 hour shifts, as patient care dictates
