Responsibilities: Medical Assistants function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and patient care functions. The duties of the medical assistant vary from department to department, depending on location, size, and specialty. Medical Assistants work within the Department of Nursing and can receive Nursing Director defined responsibilities that may be delegated by Physician and Registered Nurses. These defined responsibilities are within the scope of responsibility as described by this Job Description/Development Plan, nursing policy and the individual’s competency level.

Qualifications: Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Wisconsin, Minnesota or Iowa, depending on where they are employed or graduation from an accredited medical assistant program and must be certified. Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS – certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:

• American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers)
• Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)
• Military Training Network

Additional Qualifications: One year LPN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required or accredited Medical Assistant Program

License or Certification: Current LPN license by applicable state requirements or Certified Medical Assistant through the AAMA.. Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers.
