The Manager, Clinical Nurse will assist the Medical Director supervision & management of nursing related health care and related multi-faceted health care systems. Manage and provide nursing services for The Betty Ford Center, ensuring person-centered nursing care based on individual needs, current nursing practice standards and through the exercise of sound clinical judgment. Participate in the planning and management of agency healthcare services.

Supervise clinical processes to ensure quality care involving nursing and assist director with clinical processes related to on-site medical services and other health service concerns

  • Supervise and ensure continuity of nursing assessment and care for patients referred to medical services from within Springbrook and patients referred from other HBFF sites and outside HBFF sites
  • Participate in the implementation of clinical processes, which identify, monitor and prioritize improvement in delivery of health services
  • Maintain documents relevant to the development and use of clinical procedures involving a comprehensive policy and procedure manual
  • Participate in organizational strategic endeavors as assigned, such as representation of healthcare concerns as mandated by regulatory directives or as assigned by director

Provide supervision to the Nursing Supervisor and to nursing staff in order to ensure clear roles, responsibilities, compliance with external/internal regulations/rules to ensure smooth daily operations and maximum utilization of existing resources

  • Conduct hiring interviews and make effective decisions regarding the hiring of professional and nonprofessional nursing staff
  • Independently provide work direction provision of care, scheduling of breaks, and supervision of nursing procedures. Prioritize nursing care needs, coordinate technical staff support, and ensure appropriateness of staffing patterns
  • Promote staff development. Complete employee performance appraisals and meet clinical supervision guidelines with direct reports. Establish career development plans for each supervisee to reflect clinical expectations and HBFF behavioral competencies (CARES)
  • Administer disciplinary action as deemed appropriate including verbal warnings, written reprimands, and suspension. Recommend termination and initiate proceedings based on HR guidelines
  • Work toward mutual resolution of conflicts and disagreements. Promote problem solving, communication, and feedback regarding employee relation problems while following agency protocol

Supervise and coach healthcare staff work outcomes to result in the implementation and achievement of goals and action plans and adherence to established budgets within predefined time frames

  • Build team relationships including the promotion of collegial relationships based on CARES principles
  • Encourage employees to generate creative ideas for modifying existing and developing new services/products that will maximize revenues and income
  • Steward action plans against budget to minimize variances and maximize performance outcomes

Provide supervision for the nursing services department initiatives and staff to result in a well-qualified, empowered, informed and productive work force

  • Assist in maintaining current job documentation to include implementation and monitoring of human resource policies and organizational directives/mandates for department
  • Oversee content of monthly staff meeting agenda and any CEU in-services for health services staff
  • Assist director in implementing departmental improvements in the delivery of healthcare as defined by strategic planning groups and outside regulatory entities

Assist National Nursing Director and the Medical Director in the development of new and/or the improvement of existing processes and infrastructures within the nursing services department to result in the achievement of key quality measures and continuous quality improvement based on standards of care (CARES). Based on departmental/division goals facilitate the evaluation of the effectiveness of existing systems and processes, including the identification of needed process improvement actions, project teams, staff coaching or development and key measures

  • Assist in the development of new and utilization of existing criteria to measure, track and communicate performance outcomes relative to cost, quality and speed; and facilitate correction action targeted to specific areas when performance outcomes do not meet established measures
  • Mobilize and coach employees to modify existing and develop new systems and processes in their respective areas that support HBFF's strategic plans and mission
  • Encourage cross departmental/divisional communication, meetings and teams to ensure optimum cooperation and coordination of mutual issues, mutual understanding of systems and procedures, to resolve mutual problems, and optimize common opportunities

Continually seek and demonstrate knowledge in healthcare and facilitate others to demonstrate knowledge to result in optimum expertise and resources for HBFF

  • Attend off-site seminars /conferences that are relevant to role; network as appropriate
  • Participate in external professional organizations that are relevant to business
  • Encourage participation of staff in appropriate training events internally as well as externally
  • Participate in action teams at the request of director. Represent the department at internal and external functions on behalf of recovery services as directed

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in nursing

Current RN license

2 years experience in addiction-related nursing

CPR & AED certification

Previous supervisory experience

2 years freedom from chemical use problems

Desired Qualifications:

Certification in Addiction Nursing(CARN). If not CARN certified, must meet CARN criteria and be willing to seek certification
