Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient Psychiatric Care

Duties:

Note:  1st Area of Consideration – current permanent employees of the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center or one of its CBOC Locations, Fredericksburg, Emporia, or Charlottesville; 2nd Area of Consideration – current permanent VA nationwide employees; 3rd Area of Consideration - current permanent employees of other Federal Agencies; 4th Area of Consideration - U.S. Citizens.

 

This Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work within the Mental Health Service at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VAMC, Richmond, VA to assist in the delivery of evidence based care for patients identified with a variety of emotional and psychiatric problems. The identified role is Inpatient Care Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (ICPNP). Incumbent will be responsible for evaluation and management of patients admitted to psychiatric inpatient services. This will include functioning within the interdisciplinary team as team leader to provide comprehensive inpatient care including development of treatment plans, daily patient assessments, medication management and discharge planning.  The ICPNP is responsible to the medical director of inpatient psychiatric services and must hold a collaborative agreement with a qualified physician. The NP utilizes advanced practice nursing skills and knowledge in an independent manner in areas of patient care, education, research and consultation, with physician collaboration as needed. The NP provides psychiatric care to individuals and families across the adult life span. This process includes assessment, diagnosis, and treatment and may include working with individuals, family groups or patient groups in the inpatient setting.

 

Work schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm

Salary:  Salary to be determined by a Nurse Professional Standards board based upon qualifications and experience.
