The Employee Health (Occupational Health) Nurse Supervisor manages day-to-day operations of the Employee Health (Occupational Health) Department, providing guidance to the clinical and support staff for the prevention of adverse health effects from occupational and environmental hazards within the work environment. The supervisor is responsible and accountable for department operations, fiscal/financial management, quality, service, environment of care/safety, and risk management. The Nurse Supervisor fosters a holistic, multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of safe, qualify, and comprehensive occupational and environmental health programs aimed at preventative health care, health promotion, and health restoration. The Nurse Supervisor has the responsibility to develop and implement designated components of Employee Health (Occupational Health) program and is expected to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to identify health and safety needs, prioritize interventions, develop and implement programs, and evaluate care and delivery services for Mayo Clinic employees. Computer hardware, appropriate software utilization and critical thinking must be incorporated into daily job functions.
Position description
The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural supervises the day-to-day clinical operation of designated work unit(s) providing guidance and support to the clinical and support staff to ensure that quality patient or client focused care is delivered. When appropriate, the Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural provides professional patient care utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with the patient, families and interdisciplinary healthcare team to meet educational and discharge needs. This individual may assist in high-risk procedures, surgery and/ or provide patient education in specific units. The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural assures that appropriate care is delivered. In addition, the individual supports leadership through activities that include development of staff, teaching, community involvement, participation in committees and research (as applicable). The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural is responsible to supervise nursing practice and support staff as appropriate within an ambulatory/procedural/ program/unit and supervisory responsibilities such as staff performance evaluations. The individual may also have clinical responsibilities (i.e., patient assignments) in some smaller work units.
Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate degree program. Applicants for Director, Manager, and Supervisor roles must have baccalaureate in nursing to be eligible to apply. A minimum of two years of clinical experience is also required.
Additional qualifications
Management experience preferred. Masters degree in nursing, public health, or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred. Experience working in occupational health within an acute care setting and/or public health experience preferred. Current certification in Occupational Health Nursing is preferred.
License or certification
Current state RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the State Board of Nursing in which the RN practices. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,832.80, based on a full-time position.
