Job Details

VA Connecticut Healthcare System seeks a full-time Physician Assistant for the HIV Program.  Major duties include direct patient care of HIV+ men and women, maintenance of the HIV case registry, and serving as the lead clinician for the HIV program.  PA also serves as the HIV Clinic Coordinator and assists the ID section chief.  It is the responsibility of the PA to ensure the smooth daily operation of the ID clinic by providing care for the multiple needs of our HIV-infected veteran population.  Currently, VA CT provides comprehensive primary care and HIV specialty care to nearly 300 HIV infected veterans.

Basic Requirements: Applicant must meet the physician assistant qualification standards as outlined in VHA Handbook 5005, for citizenship; education; certification; physical standards; and English proficiency.  

Preferred Experience: i) Certification in HIV medicine or experience treating HIV+/AIDS patients, ii) Experience maintaining electronic databases, iii) Experience in clinical research, iv) Willingness to teach trainees-PA and medical students, medical residents, and clinical fellows.
