Why Mayo Clinic
The RN in Radiology provides quality nursing care to both in and outpatients in the Department of Radiology. Nurses may work in General Diagnostics, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Interventional Radiology.
Position description
1. Provides quality nursing care to both in and outpatients in the Department of Radiology. Nurses may work in General Diagnostics, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Interventional Radiology. 2. Performs pre-procedure preparation of patients including physical assessment, starting IVs, drawing lab work and administering pre-procedure prescribed medications. 3. Provides moderate sedation, pain control and monitors patient for hemodynamic responses during the course of the procedures. 4. Monitors and recovers patient post procedure until discharge criteria is met.

All associate degree or diploma registered nurses hired or transferred into the Department of Nursing will be solely and individually responsible to achieve a baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) within six (6) years from the effective start date. The BSN degree must be awarded from a school with a nursing program accredited through either the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Qualifications
(ADN) Graduate of a National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited associate’s degree or diploma program. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is also required. All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date after January 1, 2013, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within 6 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.

Current Florida RN licensure and current BLS/ACLS certification required, Moderate Sedation experience. General knowledge of all areas of nursing practice. IR/ER/ICU Experience is required
Additional qualifications
One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.

ACLS certification required. Demonstrates proficiency in nursing process. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills. Knowledgeable in physical assessment, aseptic technique, IV skills, and universal precautions. Must be able to wear 8-10 pound lead apron for certain procedures. On-call responsibilities required.



License or certification
Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency and (ACLS) competency. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
