Registered Nurse (PRN) - Dialysis

Duties:

 

The incumbent practices as an RN in the dialysis unit under the Division of Hospital and Specialty Medicine. Clinical competence is required in the delivery of End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) outpatient and inpatient care. This skill set requires proficiency in performing acute and chronic hemodialysis in the critical care unit. The dialysis RN must assume "on call" status when assigned. The "on call" role may require performance of urgent hemodialysis for pre or post renal and liver transplant patients. The nurse must be able to respond to the hospital within one hour of notification. The RN may be assigned a primary group of ESRD outpatients and be accountable for participation in monthly team care planning meetings. Based on education and experience, the dialysis staff nurse may be assigned responsibilities as a preceptor and/or charge nurse. The dialysis staff nurse demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. This role involves an understanding of the specialized care required to promote desired clinical outcomes for ESRD patients in accordance with national Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines.

 

Work Schedule: Variable days, Monday through Saturday; between 5:30am and 4:00pm or 6:00am and 4:30pm
