Position Summary: The Registered Nurse in Anticoagulation Service must be able to work independently and collaboratively to provide safe, accurate and clinically competent anticoagulation care to patients. The nurse will collect patient data and work off standardized protocol to achieve satisfactory patient outcome and INR limits within set guidelines. The ideal candidate will function as a strong team member and display professionalism while interacting with patients, families and co-workers. He/she will meet regulatory requirements for equipment use and will follow nursing and clinic polices procedures and standards.

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.

Graduate of an associate, baccalaureate or diploma nursing program, or student graduating within six months from an associate or baccalaureate nursing program.

Additional Qualifications:
All entry-level associate degree or diploma registered nurses with a RN start date after September 1, 2013, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.

If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is also required. Graduation from an accredited degree program will be required beginning on January 1, 2016. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.

License or Certification: Currently have an active RN license or will obtain prior to start date. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency or will obtain prior to start date. Certification in Anticoagulation is preferred.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $25.83 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: 40 hours every two week pay period
Schedule Details: Day time clinic hours, Monday though Friday with various start and end times. Travel throughout the NWWI region will be required. Primary office location will be Eau Claire.

Weekend Schedule: The department is currently not open on the weekends.
