The incumbent in this position functions as a Registered Nurse supporting clinical efforts in the Rheumatology/Immunology Clinic in the UF Health Shands Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, Rheumatology Division. Under general direction, this role will provide patient care and coordination of services through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care and will administer professional nursing care to the very complex and ill children in the Pediatrics Rheumatology clinic.

This RN will participate in the provision of clinical care for pediatric rheumatology patients at the clinic location at Shands @ UF clinic along with a team of Physicians and ARNP/PA providers. RN will provide clinical nursing assessment, act as patient care advocate, and provide support, counseling, and education to patients. The incumbent will be responsible for facilitating visits between patients and the Pediatrics Rheumatology/Immunology medical team in Gainesville, triaging patient phone calls, and completing patient forms. Will direct patients, families, visitors and staff members in emergencies and complex situations.

Patient calls: Triage and respond to patient/parent phone inquiries, including obtaining accurate information and communicating this information to the ARNP/PAs and Physicians.

Patient forms: Complete patient forms requiring medical certification, including Family Medical Leave Act forms, summer camp medical forms, student 504 plan forms, and other related forms.

This role will be responsible for patient case management and/or performs specialized procedures as injections. RN will work in collaboration with other health care providers and ancillary services. Will apply appropriate policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice in performing clinical duties and evaluate own practice in relation to these. Will act as a clinical resource to health care team members in identification and resolution of patient care problems to enhance effectiveness of the unit.

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

1 year of specialty experience or 2 years of ambulatory care or hospital based experience as a RN preferred.

Current licensure by the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse.  

Person should display initiative, has the ability to be multitasking and be able to take on responsibilities. Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team member is essential.

Ability to plan, manage, organize and coordinate assignments, and monitor activities of multiple projects simultaneously.

Personable with good telephone skills. Strong inter-personal and communication skills; self-direction.
