RN (Associate Chief Nurse Executive - Hospital & Specialty Care / General Medicine)

The Associate Chief Nurse Executive (ACNE) for the Division of Hospital and Specialty Medicine (DHSM) provides primary assistance to the Chief of Staff (COS) and Deputy Director of Patient Care Service/Chief Nurse Executive (DDPCS/CNE) in overall administration of patient care services/nursing services and in guiding the overall management of the practice of nursing and the profession of nursing within the VA Portland Health care System, as well as executive leadership and direct supervision for the following programs: Hemodialysis Unit, Chemotherapy Unit, Sleep Clinic, Respiratory Therapy Services, Pulmonary Function Lab, Outpatient Medicine Unit, Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Unit, Echocardiogram (ECHO) and Electrocardiogram Unit (EKF), Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, Home Oxygen Program, Specialty Clinics, Cancer Care Navigator Team (CCNT), Medical Support Assistants (clerical and facilitator level) or related programs. He/She provides executive leadership and direct supervision to the nurse managers and other supervisors over the previous mentioned programs. The incumbent will assess, plan and evaluate the processes and daily operations of the assigned programs. He/She is an active member on Medical Center and VISN committees as applicable. He/She follows up on sentinel evens and/or other adverse events. The ACNE reviews access, External Peer Review Program (EPRP), Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation (VERA) reports, performance measures, and other data for trends and early intervention; formulates follow-up plans with division managers and with other services as necessary. Oversees and promoted Joint Commission (JC) and the Office of Inspector General's (OIG) standards to ensure compliance and continual readiness throughout the division.
