Position description

The Nurse Manager manages, plans, coordinates, facilitates, integrates and evaluates patient care delivery, including nursing practice for specific units/programs that includes high acuity settings. This individual promotes excellence based on unit-specific and organizational goals with a commitment to their mission and philosophies. The scope of responsibility for this position may include ambulatory and/or 24-hour clinical management accountability for assigned procedural areas. Manages a blend of ambulatory and inpatient/365 nurses. This nurse manager assures that appropriate care is delivered for the population served. The Nurse Manager supports leadership through activities that include community involvement and participation in committees and research. The American Nurses Association Nursing (ANA) Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, the Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses provides the basis for practice.




Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program, master's in nursing or health related field preferred.Minimum of three years of nursing practice experience.




Additional qualifications

OR experience is strongly preferred.

Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness. Ability to manage time and multiple priorities effectively. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem solving, and computer skills.Experience in the department’s specialty preferred. Management experience preferred.

Preferred Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited Master’s in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, business, or health related field as approved by Mayo Clinic Nurse Executive Committee.

Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals.




License or certification

Current Arizona registered nurse licensure required. Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Maintains additional certifications/training as required by work unit.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $4,159.20, based on a full-time position.
